Overnight Boat Charter, also known in the yacht charter World as Liveaboard charters, are becoming increasingly popular for travellers to Sydney. The same could also be said for locals who want to treat themselves to an extra luxurious experience. We stay in hotels as a relaxing small getaway so why not upgrade to a luxury yacht and live the high life while exploring the most beautiful Harbour in the World.
What to expect on an Overnight Boat Charter on Sydney Harbour?
Sydney Harbour is a playground of amazing sights, beautiful calm bays, and fun activities to be experienced. Not to mention a unique way to relax and getaway from the busy Sydney life. The funny thing is that you are so far from the public, the noise, the traffic and busy city life yet you can see the beautiful city skyline across the Harbour.
Boats offer the freedom of travelling around the Harbour at your own pace to discover majestic Sydney Harbour. You can practically stop in a variety of locations, get off, walk around, head to the shops, perhaps the Fish Markets, stroll around a suburban street, lie in the park and then get back on your yacht when you’re ready. That boating lifestyle is freedom at its optimum.
The uninterrupted views are stunning wherever you are. The best feeling is simply anchoring in a calm spot for lunch or dinner and enjoying that uninterrupted view. Choosing your view is just one of those hard decisions you’ll have to make.
So if you don’t have a boat, well that’s what Charter Boat’s are there for. You can hire a yacht for the day without having to spend millions, and maintain the engine, hire a mooring etc, etc. It is quite a valuable experience when you consider the extraordinary time to be had and service you receive, and now is a good time as any.
What is a typical itinerary for an Overnight Boat Charter?
Each charter boat offers an amazing experience yet different in their own way. They can go to the same places although it is more about the itinerary and how the crew manage the day for you.
We spoke to the Head Steward of one of our preferred Luxury yachts, OneWorld, on what they recommend for a 3 day itinerary for their guests. They call it the Sydney Escape Package.
Day One:
Embark at midday and let the crew escort you to your own private guest suites. Enjoy your welcome drink and canapés as OneWorld cruises to her first anchorage for the evening Farm Cove – your view of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House does not get better than this.
Let the culinary journey begin as you enjoy a buffet or three course lunch on the rear deck prepared by your on- board chef. Cheers a glass of one of the many great Australian & New Zealand wines we have on offer and toast to the beginning of a unique luxury yacht escape.

Your free time in the afternoon could comprise of chilling in the on-board Jacuzzi, relax on the bow with your favourite book or take a dip in the ocean, the afternoon is yours to do as you please.
Savour cocktails and canapés as the sun sets on the two iconic landmarks before you feast on yet another delicious meal lovingly prepared by Chef.
Day Two:
Wake up on the Harbour (early or late) and make your way to the aft deck where a fabulous morning breakfast spread awaits you.
Relax as the yacht slowly makes her way to Athol Bay where a day of ‘monkeying’ around is sure to be entertaining. The tender drops you off at the infamous Taronga Zoo where the resident animals have some of the best views in Sydney. The boat can dock at Taronga Zoo wharf where you can enter the Zoo by cable car.
Have lunch ashore or come back to the yacht for yet another customised meal.
Spend the afternoon in total relaxation recovering from your busy morning exploring the Zoo as OneWorld’s Captain cruises to Rose Bay to anchor for the evening.
For dinner we suggest swapping your swimmers for a suit and dining at the amazing Catalina’s in Rose Bay. With a view of OneWorld the ‘taxi’ home is only a minute away.
Day Three:
I believe I can fly.
After breakfast the tender drops you off at Sydney Seaplanes as you and your guests are whisked away for a scenic flight of the Harbour up to the Hawksbury River where you gently land at a restaurant called Peats Bite, so isolated its only accessible by sea plane or yacht. Enjoy a beautiful lunch in the serenity of the Hawksbury as OneWorld awaits in the distance.
As the yacht arrives the tender will collect you and take you away to a beautiful anchorage behind Dangar Island for the evening. An afternoon nap is most certainly on the cards.
Day Four:
Anchors up on the final day on board. You have the option to cruise back to Sydney with the yacht (approximately 2 hours) or spend a little extra time in Pittwater and have a private transfer either by Seaplane or luxury car to bring you back to Sydney.
Organising Your Overnight Boat Charter
It’s quote simple to arrange an overnight yacht charter. The Boat Charter Agent that you speak to will often provide options based on the following details:

- Any preferences on destinations
- Your yacht preference
Once you have chosen your yacht and complete the contract the other details will include any food and dietary requirements, bed configuration (some boats can change their beds from double single, if you were to have any guests for a day and any additional services.
Additional Services
Additional services may include water toys, entertainment for a party such as a DJ or musician etc, tender, water taxis or even a masseuse to board for a heavenly massage experience on the water.
These additional services can either be paid in advance or taken from the Advanced Provisional Allowance. The APA is a set fee paid in advance (usually 25% of the overall charter fee).
